Nick started DJ'ing for schools, weddings, and private events at the age of 14. In the years that passed Nick learned audiovisual skills through volunteering at The Coastal Repertory Theater and working events at various Bay Area venues. At 21 Nick began working at the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay as a member of their onsite audiovisual team. For the next 3 years he worked as both a technician and event operator for hundreds of shows, mostly for fortune 500 companies. At the Ritz Nick gained skills in the areas of live sound, video mixing, projection, stage lighting, effect/dance lighting, string & décor lighting, and project & event management. Nick also learned the Ritz Carlton style and brand of customer service, where no is not an option.
Nick started learning the art of customer service well before working at the Ritz Carlton. At 16 he started working at Half Moon Bay Golf links in the outside services department, gaining experience at every position and being promoted to a supervisor at the age of 17 at a time when he was a Junior at Junipero Serra High School. He worked his first large scale event at HMB Golf links during 2008 Samsung World Championship LPGA golf tournament, where he managed the driving range and practice facilities. In 2009 Nick worked at Bel Air Country for a semester while in Los Angeles. There he assisted celebrities and political figures on a daily basis that expected a very high level of service. Nick would often get members cars washed or repaired, or run personal errands for them while they golfed or dined. In 2015 Nick graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Management.
It is his goal that Local Productions embodies the experience and knowledge that he has gained, and that every staff member provides the type of service that amazes and leaves the client in awe. Nick has always made it a priority to exceed your expectations in every aspect of your event, and go far above and beyond of what the rest of the competition does.
My love of music began in 1973, while spending a year with my Grandparents in San Diego, I had a little radio that I put under my pillow at night and fell asleep listening to KCBQ... the big hits station of the day.
Also that year I bought my first three albums... Elton John's "Goobye Yellowbrick Road", Edgar Winter's "They only come out at night", and Cheech & Chong's "Big Bamboo"... Soon I would move to Hawaii, where I would be exposed to a even wider variety of tunes.
From my first "close 'n play” and all through school I was always "the media guy"... After high school, I landed my first radio job at KUAI AM720 in Ele'ele Kauai.
It's hard to believe that was over 30 years ago. In those years I've done just about every job a small market radio station has to offer- Weekender, Afternoon Drive host, Mid day host, AM Drive, and lots of production and voiceovers- then sales and management as well.
I've also been a nightclub DJ, in house wedding DJ & MC at multiple Big Island Hotels, a mobile DJ & MC, a audio operator for live bands, and a audiovisual technician.
With over 30 years in the entertainment industry, and growing up in the 80's, Paul knows great music and great fun. He'll work with you, one on one, helping you build the perfect soundtrack for your special event. His low key approach and technological know-how helps take the stress away... And his long radio career, ensures your announcements will be heard and understood with full clarity. From Country to Big Band, Smooth Jazz, Rock, Disco, and current hits. Paul loves music and good time.
Tyler started attending Local Productions events in 2012. He had a deep interest in sound and lighting systems and would chat with the founder Nick Finlen before and after events. Local Productions loaned Tyler a couple of JBL speakers and his first digital DJ controller, and his passion for music and technology grew further. That same year Tyler became a part of the Local Productions Team, where he started to receive training and soon after began assisting with audiovisual needs at all types of events. In 2014 Tyler started to DJ & MC high school dances, university events, and private parties solo. In 2015 Tyler began to DJ weddings, festivals, corporate events, and fund-raisers with the rest of the senior LP Team.
Tyler’s love of music started at a young age while growing up in the Bay Area and being exposed to all kinds of genres. Although Tyler likes just about any genre, he specializes in Hip Hop, Pop & Top 40, Bay Area Hip Hop & Underground, and Electronic Dance Music. He loves to DJ for both younger and older crowds that want celebrate and have a great time on the dance floor.
In addition to his roles at events, Tyler also helps to manage our inventory along with any shipping and receiving needs. Tyler has also taken it upon himself to help further make our business green by not only handling all of our recycling and composting needs, but also by re-purposing old equipment and partially used batteries for others. Tyler is also a part time student at San Francisco State University, where he is expecting to graduate in late 2016 with his bachelors degree in Business Administration.
My Audio Visual career began in 1997, Palmdale California. Every Sunday my Father would take me to the local church. He taught me how to operate the sound board, set up the projector, coil cables and record the sermon to CD’s that the attendees could bring home. A few years I began to play the guitar. I had played varying instruments from the age of five, but the guitar resonated with me. This led me into recording myself and others. Which would eventually lead me into Audio Post Production.
In my Post Production world, my big break came when I began working for Electronic Arts as an Audio Artist. I was exposed to a community of people who essentially did the same thing as me, and were a lot better at it. I quickly gained knowledge and in experience in studio recording, mixing & mastering, sampling, and working with various sound effects and languages.
I got to know Nick Finlen of Local Productions very well while working at the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay in 2015. We preformed every discipline of audio visual, every day. From Rigging, Projection, Video, Live Sound, Data Management, Lighting, Power Distribution, IT/Networking WiFi, all while delivering extreme customer service to executive level event attendees. We had many sixteen hour days to perfect our craft. At this time I also became a certified Scissor Lift Operator, and began to greatly enjoy being up in the air rigging. Eventually the pool of Hotels we worked at increased exponentially with the demand for experienced technicians. As of 2017 I have worked at over 150 properties throughout the Bay Area, many with the Local Productions AV Team.
